What do I do if the book I need isn't on the shelf?

Answer

If you are having trouble finding library materials on the shelf, first verify the status of the item in the catalog record. Check the status and location of the book.

The status of an item indicates whether or not it has been checked out, is on reserve or on hold. A status of "available" means an item should be on the shelf and ready for check out.

The location of the book indicates where the book is possible locations include Main, Art, Reserves, Annex, Wimpfheimer, etc.

If you have verified status and location information in the library catalog record and still cannot find the materials you are looking for, contact the circulation desk or fill out the search request form.
