How do I get a guest borrower card?

Guest borrower cards can be provided by the circulation office to the following qualified residents:

Vassar Retirees  Note: borrowing privileges do not extend to family members of retirees

Vassar alumni.  Please contact the CIS Card Office for information about obtaining an Alumni card, which can be used in the library once you have filled out a guest borrower application and have had your card validated at the library circulation desk. You must live within a day's drive to campus to qualify for borrowing privileges. 

College faculty (full or part time) of colleges or universities within the SENYLRC area (counties of Dutchess, Columbia, Greene, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Sullivan and Ulster)

Cooperating teachers and field work supervisors upon recommendation of the Education Department Chair or the Field Work Director. Forms are mailed directly to the Circulation department.

Teachers/administrators who work in schools within the SENYLRC area (counties of Dutchess, Columbia, Greene, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Sullivan and Ulster)

Librarians in local public/school/college/special libraries

Ordained members of the clergy at local houses of worship

Doctoral candidates  who have completed coursework and are writing a thesis/dissertation.

Scholars/Researchers/Writers/Professional Musicians/Faculty Emeriti with demonstrated need of the use of a scholarly research collection

Ask for a guest borrower application at the Circulation Desk or print a PDF version of the application. Submit the completed application at the Circulation Desk along with materials such as your employment, college, program ID card, or other credentials that support your eligibility/need for a guest borrower card.  We also require a copy of your driver's license or other photo ID for address verification purposes.
